Some forums have found or made a portrait type avatar that one draws their own head in using a photo program like MS paint. I guess it helps makes people identify with the forum and each other a little better. Anyone use this or have any opinions on it? More importantly, anyone know where I can find some of these portrait type things?

Kinda of interesting. No exactly what I was looking for but it will do. I found this site if anyone is interested.

Portrait Illustration Maker : Free

I'll keep look for one, or maybe I'll just draw a background (related to my site of course) and the silhouette of a person for members to fill in like I wanted to brand the site further in their minds.

Good Idea, that's what I tried to do with the default av's here

I always just use google to search for new avatars.

There is a similar mod on vBulletin.org although not quite the same, but allows people to "build" their own custom avatar & dress them. I think its kind of weird myself.
