Is it possible to block .ru registrations?

I tried the vbulletin options for banning users and used "*.ru" but I'm still getting these registrations at about 3-6 per day. I added a profile question, but it seems to have no effect and generally, a "Http://xxxx" appears in the profile box. It's pretty annoying.

Also try implementing stronger spam prevention measures, they shouldn't be able to even make it into the system really

Thank you, again! i pasted them into banned users and will hope for the best. I'm looking for suggestions on how to completely lock the spammers out. I'm sure that many others are dealing with this same issue as me.

There are a few modifications at vB.org such as Is bot check, and a few different image check verifications that are pretty effective

Re: Is it possible to block .ru registrations?

This is possible without any additional code or hack.

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> User Banning Options

Banned Email Addresses

Enter ".ru" (without the quotes) into the box.
Enable 'Agressive Email Banning'

That should be you. Just tested it and works fine.

This hack stops at least 10 spammer domains a day in one of my client forums

Spam List: Block 261022 Registration Email Domains - vBulletin.org Forum

You should try it out, as it goes beyond russian domains

I also added a user profile box with an instruction to type the first letter of a word that I specified. 2 days now and no new spammers! I got the info on this from a post on vB.com posted by Steve Machol after doing a search on spam. How nice it is not to have top delete a half dozen to a dozen new registrations a day! Thanks Steve!
