Post Feeding

,

I'm wondering what it takes to feed posts from the news section of a forum to the front page of a site. The front of the site will use Joomla. Is there already something out there that is capable of doing this? If not, I guess I'll have to code it myself. If that is the case, what route shall I take? Is it best to directly read the SQL table for entries in the forum, or would it be better to get the RSS of the forums, and feed it to the front?

Maybe my concept of this is wrong, but if I had one good guess it would be one of these ways.

Well I just release a hack at vbhackers.com you can view it here Latest X Posts on Forum Home - vBHackers.com - vBulletin Modifications, Hacks, and Help

Anyways, I am also working on this, for an external html page. im pretty sure their is a joomla to vbulletin bridge, but I have never tried it personally. if you need any other help feel free to post it here, or pm me, or add me to your AIM/MSN.

I pull it directly through the sql, and have it exclude the forumid's that you dont want to show

Re: Post Feeding

When you say Joomla to vBulletin bridge, do you mean integrating the actual forums into the Joomla front module? If so, that's not quite the direction I want to take.

Taking the info from the SQL table and feeding it out sounds like a good idea.

Would it be more work to do it the RSS way?

Re: Post Feeding

Why can't you use RSS feeds of the forum you want to pull from ?
