Question about Ads

Two thing:

1) What is vBulletinSetup using as their ad manager? I notice their is adsense under the navbar. I'm using "vB Ad Management 4", but it automatically adds a link that says "Remove advertisements" under each ad.

2) Should I let guests see adsense, or should I hide it for them?

1.) He might be using openads (aka phpadsnew). I decided on vB ad management over openads because of how easy the install was, and how much space it saved. You can remove the "remove advertisments" without any problems at all, just don't put the register url in your vbulletin options.

2.) Guests are in my opinion, exactly who you should be targeting the ads at, much more so over members.

Sorry, I didn't understand that.

EDIT: Nevermind about the disabling it for members.

And do you think I should disable ads for members then? Like a benefit for registering kind of?
Yes, you're false advertising saying "remove these ads" with a link to the register page, but you're still showing them after registration? Seems like it'll just piss off members.

Remove the URL in the vBulletin Options > Ad Management Global Settings > "Remove Advertisements" thread or page URL
keep that empty, and the "remove these ads" link above each ad will go away.

Re: Question about Ads

We are using an old hack by the vB Geek called Gab, the only place it's setup right now is the top right corner. I have a few ad's that rotate in that position.
The rest is just hard coded with a few conditions.

Re: Question about Ads

Yea, I just realized that, Rocket. I didn't know that the "remove advertisements" link asked you to register. I thought it just hid the ads...I never clicked it before, lol.

Also, I heard 3.7 has it's own ad management, Brandon.

I've seen references to that when updating templates, but I can't find anything relating to it in the ACP

Re: Question about Ads

3.7 has some extra templates for ads, nothing fancy...
All you have to do is stick the ads code in those templates and that's it.
