Removing Vbulletin and starting over?

I think I might have deleted a file or two by accident and now my forum has gone dead. I can't figure out what I did.. Can I just go on my ftp and hit delete for the whole folder, and start over? Do I have to delete the mysql database thing too?

Re: Removing Vbulletin and starting over?

If have to, you can do that. BUT WAIT!

At least get the /includes/config.php file first and save it on your computer to see if the existing DB is ok. rename the existing damaged folder, create a new one of the same name, re-upload the vB files to the new folder, and then re-upload the config.php.

If it was just a file error, things may work.

If not, then empty the existing DB of all the tables and start over if it fails and you don't want to try and fix it.

Unfortunately that didn't work. I was watching tv and put my bowl on my lap top and it started to delete files (according to the FTP log). I think it's easier if I just start from scratch.

Do not reinstall. Just upload all files set to overwrite and it should be better. If you uploaded extra files like from hacks, then upload those too if still broken.

Mike you're a genius! I didn't have any skins uploaded or anything, I just re-uploaded all the vbulletin files with the override. Too a while, but I got it going now!

Hehe. It was almost like reinstall vbulletin again basically though. **mental note** don't place food bowl on keyboard and eat at the same time.
