renaming search.php

Is it possible to rename search.php to another name as long as i change all instances of search.php to the new name (probably easiest done using replacement variables)

I've got a new article system that needs to be installed in the same directory as vBulletin, but also has its search.php file that I can't get integrated with vBulletin search 100% right.

Yep, just make sure you change the variable statements and also check the mysql ( do some phpmyadmin searches ) to see if there are any other hidden statements.
You will have issues if you upgrade vB.

Yea, i'm not upgrading again till 3.7gold comes out, and i may even wait for a 3.7.1

I'm gonna give this a try tonight, and see if i can pinpoint all the search.php that the replacement variables won't cover and I'll let everyone know

Why don`t you just use something else for your scripts search.php or just place vBulletin in another folder ?

To much work and lost SEO time moving vBulletin, sure i could just redirect it all, but i don't want to risk it at the moment.

I've renamed vBulletins search to vbsearch.php, used a replacement variable search.php => vbsearch.php and so far so good, about to test everything now
