Re: To rep, or not to rep.

the new site i'm going to start will employ the thanks with groan hack as thumbs up or down, maybe yay and boo, something like that, and then i will try and figure a way to give rep with those and disable the traditional rep system.

With the sports one, that's a great option to use.

I like the layout Coach!

Re: To rep, or not to rep.

The only problem I see with "yay" and "boo" is that some members might apply that to the content of posts and boo bad news about their favorite teams... then no one will want to be the bearer of bad news. A thumbs-up with "great post" and thumbs-down with "lousy post" might work better.

Re: To rep, or not to rep.

I originally started using the reputation system on my site, but within the first couple of weeks, I turned it off and installed the Post Thanks hack.
It's much quicker and easier for my members to use. It's no use having a system on a forum that not everybody uses (the reputation system).

Re: To rep, or not to rep.

i think the thank hack would be better cause there is no custom message on the rep comment. i have ran into a problem a few times with negative rep containing offensive language...lol
