running and 'find and replace' query on mysql database

Hi folks,

I would like to change the username of a member and would like to also change all references to that username with the new username.

That would mean an awful lot of database edits.

I was wondering if there is a 'find and replace' query that I can run to do this?

Thanks

Possibly create the new username, then merge the old username into the new username (?).

Use replacement variables instead from the vBulletin AdminCP -> Style Manager -> Replacement Variables

It's easy enough to change the name, just all the references to the name in the posts.

I would like it permanently changed in the database but I'll check out the replacement variables too.

Thanks.

The replacement variables would be good but the username is part of the url (one of the reasons I want to change it) and the replacement variables changes all the links on the forum too lol.
