Sending an email to every member?

Hi folks,

I know there's a 'Send email to users' option within ACP but my host only allows me to send 500 emails every hour and I have over 5,000 members.

I could use the options and send the email to user ids 1-500, then send it to 501-1000 one hour later...and so on and so on...

But does anyone else have another solution?

What do you mean every hour? You can send them all at once in the admin panel. I do not see why have to wait an hour?

My host has limited me to 500 emails per hour. The first 500 go through ok but the rest get rejected and returned to sender.

It's a royal pain in the a** having to delete 5000+ 'return to sender' emails lol.

Oh I see your host...I am on a VPS and our host really does not seem to care. But I have mostly always had sites on dedi servers and I guess thats why. I was wondering why the hour limit.

Why not just copy all the emails from your database and then send them with your normal email. Your ISP prolly does not care.

I installed that mod after sending out Christmas greetings to all my members and unwittingly violating a not-more-than-200-emails-per-hour policy... not good, to invite old members back to your forum and have them greeted with a "this site has been suspended" page

oooo that is no good at all! i dont know a whole lot about hosts with email limits, is that normal? can't you just ask them to lift the restriction? or do you have to pay more for hosting?

i have a good host recommendation that there is not limit, they are fast and cheap too

I made my apologies, promised never to do it again, and they lifted the suspension immediately. I immediately found and installed that mod but haven't sent out any mass emails since after that experience. The host said I would have to get a dedicated server if I wanted to send out email to the entire list at once, but of course that's too rich for my blood.

So, does the mod work well for you Michele?

I don't have a need for it yet because I have less than 200 members for my site at this point. But, I should check with my hosting company just in case.
