Hi Guys

I'm trying to setup a private sub-forum for use by a Committee. I've done the basics ok (i.e. setting up the forum as Private and Committee User group) but these guys are busy people and don't want to have to keep logging in to view what's been posted.

What I'm looking for is a way to perhaps subscribe them to the whole sub-forum so they just get a single email when a new thread is started with the option of then subscribing for future posts to that thread i.e. they may not want to get an email notifying of every single post.

Anyone come across a mod for anything like this ?

Thanks in advance

Re: Thread start notification

I have set up a Committee for my forum and the best way that I was able to do it was by using the Social Groups feature.

You can set it as private or moderate who can access.
It is working very well for me, but I am not sure about subscription and emailing when there is new posts.

Hope this might help you

Problem is, I'm dealing with some people who are a bit anti-forums and are also unfamiliar with vBulletin. I do have the forum setup correctly and working as I want it, just need to get the email notification sorted out and avoid too many emails.

Depending on the size of this group, you could use the "e-mail when new thread is created" tool in the sub-forum's options/settings. I think you can enter a list, separated by commas.

Re: Thread start notification

If that doesn't work out for whatever reason, the individual members can also subscribe themselves to an entire sub-forum and they'll be notified either as soon as a thread is created, once a day, or once a week.
