Upgrading 3.6.7 to 3.6.8

Howdy!

I need to upgrade my site from 3.6.7 to 3.6.8 and have some questions.

1. The readme files says I'm to upload everything EXCEPT the install/install.php file. Does this mean I upload it into /public_html/forum folder? I'm not 110% sure where I should upload this stuff!!

2. Should I click "Overwrite existing files" when uploading?

3. I have concerns that whatever I upload is overwrite stuff besides VB like a hack/mod or maybe some portion of the skin. Is this possible? What do I have to do to prevent this?

I have other questions but let's start with those!

Thanks!

Lyte

p.s. Is the upgrade offered by VB.com a full VB replacement or just a few files to replace a few things here and there? Sure looks like a LOT to upload.

Re: Upgrading 3.6.7 to 3.6.8

1. If you are doing a full upgrade, you need to upload everything in the upload folder to your forum's main directory.

2. Yes you do need to overwrite the old files. You are upgrading for 3.6.7 files to 3.6.8 files.

3. Upgrading will overwrite any modifications made to the actual .php files, not your plugins (unless there is version incompatibility). So if you made significant changes to the actual files themselves, you'll have to redo all the edits in order to keep your modifications running.

The .zip package is a full vBulletin package so it will update every single file that runs on a default forum.

Aww... heck... I take it there isn't simply a patch for the changes? I have to do a full upgrade if I want to reap the benefits of 3.6.8??

Do have all the benefits of 3.6.8 you have to complete a full upgrade. Patches (whenever they are released) will only fix security issues. They do not includes features.

vBulletin 3.6.8 Released - vBulletin Community Forum

In the post, there is a list of all the .php files that have been modified. You should probably check how much editing you'll need to do.

from .7 to .8 is not that big of a deal. The upgrade is really smooth. The hardest part is adding like the 10 new template hooks, which is easy. I advise doing it. Good luck

Aww heck... I think I'd better hold off cuz I didn't install the Drupal or the skin so I'm fairly certain I'll hose something! I'll save it for later!
