vbulletin time source?

Hello,

After running my forum for 3 years, I've decided that it's about time to get the clock right. I just can't seem to figure out how to do it.

I made sure my server has the right time. I'm running Linux and the now the hardware clock and system clock are set to my current time.

I have my vbulletin account set to my current time zone.

When I make a post, the time is 4 hours behind.

Any suggestion?

Brandon

Your user account or the entire forum? Make sure they match. Each user can set theirr own time zone and you can set it in the admin cp.

Re: vbulletin time source?

vBulletin gets its time from the server. You need to set the timezone in the Admin CP to whatever you want the default to be and the DST settings should match whatever settings are on the server.

Then each user needs to set their local timezones/DST in the User CP. If you do this correctly and the server time is correct, then the correct times will show.

This also assumes that you have not modified the footer template to affect the DST detection code in it.

Re: vbulletin time source?

I had a hack that threw the time way out...think it was a search cloud on forum home hack or something like that.

Re: vbulletin time source?

Well you could always just add a world clock...I added one on couple sites...They have lots of scripts and such...Good time site to get info from is

The World Clock - Time Zones - North America

Also you need to learn how to synch your server clock...

If you have ssh it is easy...If not you will have to talk to your host..I think in WHM they have a setting to do it

Are you referring to getting the hardware and system clock the same? I believe I've done that today, but it didn't seem to make any difference on vBulletin.

Either. I have both my user account and the default forum time zone set to my time zone.

OOHHHH GREAT!!!! I have a few mods. I'm not sure if any of them deal with time, however. I guess I'll have to look into that one on my test forum.

Re: vbulletin time source?

Make sure DST is set to yes.

AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Date and Time Settings

If it's already set, set it to no, save settings then set it to yes, save settings.
