Re: Welcome Headers for Guest Brandon, I asked this question over on vbModder and still waiting a reply. Code Monkey brought up a good point that the search engines would always see that text by the welcome header hack first and may put the pages in supplemental results. A suggested work around would be to make the welcome header an image but I am having formatting issues getting it to look right. Any suggestions on how to get an image welcome header to align properly and expand fluidly with the forum? I have problems with one of my sites (an e-commerce site) with having over 1500 pages in supplemental results so I don't want to have that problem again. George Quote |

Re: Welcome Headers for Guest I wouldn't recommend putting up a header as an image because depending on what resolution you view it from (and people use different ones) it'll either be too small or too big, and will mess up the look of your page in some cases (like create horizontal scroll bar, which is pretty annoying). If you're going to go about it, I would test it with multiple resolutions. Since you're dealing with an image of text you can't really format it in any way that it would nicely exapand, except maybe inbetween the lines vertically (if you cut up the image in this way). This doesn't really aid the situation as you'd want to resize the image horizontally, which isn't possible without breaking up the test.

I had some help with the header image we use, but the first one I had just taken a screen shot of the welcome header when I was using text.. and then cut and cropped it to fit ![]() Quote:
you can logout and see the one we use here.. I've checked on large and small res and it looks fine to me
