| What host do you use? Thinking about leaving ASO. I have been an ASO customer for several years now and Iove their customer service but am not impressed with other aspects. I'm on a $50 VPS for one of my sites that seems to run very slow and will often times shut down. I'm told I'm using too many resources.
My other forum is on a shared server that I pay $20 / month for with similar users online stats to the VPS and now I'm told I'm using too many resources there as well and they want me to switch to a VPS. The thing is this forum runs significantly faster on the shared server than my site on the VPS.
If I have to pay $100 for two VPSs with ASO would I just be better off getting a dedicated server and running two forums there?
Who are you using and what are your thoughts?
PS: Interesting post I just stumbled across in regards to someone in a similar situation A Small Orange - not so fresh anymore? - vBulletin Community Forum |

| Re: What host do you use? Thinking about leaving ASO. it's a little baffling how some hosts can suddenly say a site is taking up too much server resources when it's been running smoothly for a while. Make sure all your scripts are up to date and not corrupted... |

| Re: What host do you use? Thinking about leaving ASO. 1&1 is my host provider. I have no complaints at all with 1&1. Any and every thing I need to support my vB forum, platform wise, is part of the 1&1 Professional package I have. They have a default 100MB maximum MySQL database size, though. You either would need to store your forum images in the file system or pay a bit more and have 1&1 bump up your MySQL database maximum size.

| Re: What host do you use? Thinking about leaving ASO. A good place to check up on host is webhostingtalk.com
just search for their name and you'll find good and bad threads about them
I spent a good 6 weeks searching for a good host. |

My three vBulletin forums are all hosted on a dedicated server at HostICan, at hostican.com, if you want to check it out. We follow all the standard vBulletin server optimization tricks, including the use of a PHP cache accelerator to get peak performance, and service and uptime are both superb.
You can check out one of the forums at forum.theparacast.com if you want to see what it does and how it functions. | |

Are they managed or unmanaged? I can't see any info on this. |
