I had that problem a little while ago and told them about it and they moved me to a less populated server and haven't had a problem since.

I contacted them and they sound OK, only 15 concurrent connections to database though.

Also, with shared plans that say allocate 100gig of storage, well, yeah for web pages but not databases, in this instance the database is limited to 2gig, just things to be aware of.

What about this lot?

I`ve seen alot of bad reviews about them, they do have their own DC, but I see they can`t cope with the demands. What are you looking for ? Space/BW ?

Are you talking about ASO? Haven't used them personally but I haven't seen too many bad reviews about them.

I'm also thinking out loud here. What about mass emails etc? What if you email your entire board and the host you get calls it spam etc?

Frankly, it's a mine field out there and after chatting to perhaps 5 different ones and reading review after review I feel dumber for it.

Dude... I know what you mean.. I am with them right now and I am biting my tongue... I had asked another site for support in this area. but i guess it is worth the try asking here...

Above is a copy of what my hits are like on a quiet days.. I am with servage and I am swearing day in day out as my site stalls a lot, lags a lot, and my connection drops a lot... Then the database errors occur.

I am running a chatroom and an arcade, and discussion boards, on general topics which can get busy on certain days.. busy as 20+members online at the sae time excluding guests.

I am searching for a host that can offer me excellent service that can match my desires so that i can fly through my site on a daily basis, without downtimes for $100 per month.

Should I start my own topic on this, or can a recommendation be made here for me as well?

Thats a really decent budget and can easily get you a good spec managed vps or an unmanaged dedicated server. My recommendation would be to get a fully managed vps with 512+ mb of ram and cpanel, with an unmanaged dedicated box, you would be in a fix unless you are well versed in linux and can troubleshoot it on your own.

For vps, checkout knownhost. I have been using their reseller account for over 14 months and I am quite satisfied.

Hawke, you should see how a forum with 200+ members/day and 30+ online all the time feels like... like crap with those overselling bastards.

Anyways, i'm using a site5 reseller at the moment and i'm pretty much pleased with their services.

P.S.: Another quite large forum is running on the same reseller.
