What should you do when posts start mysteriously disappearing?

Lately I've been getting a few reports about new threads, posts, private messages, and even the occasional new account disappearing. All in all I've gotten six such reports, three of which I've seen with my own eyes and then couldn't find again, and it seems to have started around the time I upgraded to 3.7.2. Probably some kind of database problem, but what should I look for?

No, they wouldn't do that... one of the new accounts was for the daughter of a very important person in the industry, and all the mods are hoping she'll get her parents involved. Plus they wouldn't have access to someone's private messages, plus they never hard-delete anything...

ACP>maintenance>update counters>rebuild XYZ info

try that, i had a problem where if a person made a post that was supposed to go to the next page it would lock up the thread and the last page was inaccessible, this seemed to fix the problem.

Just rebuilt the counters but unfortunately it doesn't look like anything magically reappeared. Hoping that will be enough to prevent future disappeared posts... Any more suggestions welcome, not sure what to do about such a nebulous problem...

That seems to have done the trick Dave, I haven't had any reports of disappearing posts lately. Thanks!
