| What's the best mod for adding videos? I used to use viper007's mod for embedding YouTube and Google videos, but recently discovered the passiveVid mod, which is not only easier to use but also offers support for more video sites. But there are so many video mods out there, and some of them claim they're better for SEO.. Which one do you use, and why? |

| Re: What's the best mod for adding videos? I was using passiveVid but dropped it when I went to vB3.7 because passiveVid has not yet been updated for vB3.7. AME - Auto Media Embedding also has yet to release a vB3.7 update.
There's a new kid on the block at vB.org called vBTubePRO that's vb3.7 compatible and has "vBSEO Rules Included."
At this point I see no reason for my forum to be a "portal" or link to YouTube. If you want to post an art piece, post away. You want to view videos, go to YouTube. |

| Re: What's the best mod for adding videos? I understand your frustration theozer, but I wouldn't want members leaving my site to go to YouTube (and possibly staying there)... besides I think embedded video adds to the forum's utility for the users. Some of mine have even made video tutorials when another member had a question. |

| Re: What's the best mod for adding videos? Arny,
It's "Not Supported," but with 182 installs already, it must work well enough. This video hack does keep your members at your forum on your forum. That's good. The hack's coder seems to be a bit absent in the recent pages of this thread's posts, though. |

| Re: What's the best mod for adding videos? Oz, I've been a little apprehensive due to the lack of support. But, it seems like it's been working well for most folks. |

| Re: What's the best mod for adding videos? I installed the vBTube (I call it WDBTube ) and it's working very well so far. I customized it a bit and have Disney-friendly categories now http://www.waltdisneyboards.com/vBTube.php

| Re: What's the best mod for adding videos? Not really I allow the videos in any section they want. It doesnt use much bandwith at all..Plus people hardly post videos. I think if you make a specific section you are inviting people to eat your bandwith. But I see no problem allowing them. People would rather post links to sites anyway. Least on my topics. |

| Re: What's the best mod for adding videos? But, how do folks then spend lots of time watching videos on your site? Do yu mean by having the 'other' video links that come up at the end of the video they initially watched?
The reason I went with this hack was because it sets up a mini-You Tube like setup in our own page. Plus, I can get the occasional click on adds near the videos, etc.
Just want to make sure that I'm thinking around the right lines. |
