When Editing Usergroup, vB Makes A New Usergroup of the Same Name Instead

The title explains it all. I was editing a usergroup in the Admin CP. I hit the "Save" button and got the "successful" message, but when I look in the Usergroup Manager vB has created a new usergroup under "Custom Usergroups" with the settings I changed instead of modifying the usergroup as I would like.

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but this "bug" exists even when I disable the plugin system.

I'm not sure if it is a "bug" though, although it probably isn't since it works properly on a clean installation.

I am running the latest version of vBulletin, and although Suhosin is enabled on my server, I'm not sure why it would conflict with that setting.

I have made a thread on vB.com about this, and you can see it here. It hasn't been updated in a while (or on my timeframe), so I'm asking for help here instead.

Try to make the usergroup, if it still does that, then you've found a bug or problem with suhosin (which i'd like to take this screenspace to say i hate)

If it doesnt happen when plugins are disabled, remove the config.php file edit (or comment it out with //)

Then go in, disable one plugin/product, and then try again. Keep doing that until it doesn't do it anymore and then you'd have found the faulty modification.

I know thats pretty much what vB.com probably said, but thats really the only way to trouble shoot the problem.
Well actually I did disable the plugin system in config.php and overwrote all the vB files to make sure they're the latest. The problem is still there.

Maybe it's not the server because I did a clean install in another directory (password-protected and private of course), and it worked fine!

Actually no. I thought if no one here knew what to do then I would open a support ticket. And since I made a thread on vB.com I didn't think I needed to make a support ticket, too.

But if you want me to, I'll be glad to.

I mean you can do what you want, but usually if I have a weird problem like this, although the support staff will probably tell you the same thing, i still open a ticket along with asking at places like here on vbsetup. I wasn't trying to be off putting, just asking is all...

Okay, I will open a support ticket later today.

But can I get any help here?

Yeah sure you can, Dave is doing everything I would think the vbteam would. I just suggest tickets (personally) for documentation reason, so you and vB both know you had a issue.

I was going to suggest checking thru your admincp directory for stray .htaccess files, i had one in there once and it did crazy things to my ACP.

OK, I'll take your advice with the .htaccess files.

I will open a support ticket also, while I wait for Dave's reply.

After these suggestions, I'll be pretty much at a total loss.
Rebuilding the bitfields combined with removing modification files from the includes/xml directory seemed to work. I'll now have to figure out which mod is causing the problem.

Thanks for your help.
