Which are your "someday" mods?

I don't know about you. But, whenever I am checking out mods on vB.org, I run across some that seem so great. Everything about it seems to scream that you should have it... and have it NOW!

But, then you start looking at the installation instructions and they include things that seem to be the equivalent of taking your car apart and putting it back together! Sheesh. So many steps and template edits and products and set up this and that and the other. Or, maybe it's just having one or two bugs that folks are getting fixed that you are just not sure that you want to spend the time in dealing with.

Have any of you been putting off adding some mods like these?

I have two like that. The first one is Bobster's [AJAX] Tabbed Forum Home - vBulletin.org Forum and the second is the Email reminder for inactive users - vBulletin.org Forum

I want both of them. But, there are just too many things to get done on the 'inactive mail' one and I just don't have the time to track down the fixes on Bobster's tabbed forum home.

Anyone else have those "someday" mods?

LOL....I know what you mean. I was starting to get annoyed by that e-mail that you get from vB.org showing you just how lazy you were being! The e-mail had a list of all of the downloaded mods on it and it seemed to be pointing at me and saying...would you do some work already!

I think I'd like a better gallery, but I'd have to investigate which of the available ones is best AND can convert from coppermine, cough up the money, install and convert... someday I'll get to it.

I use this mod for my forum.

Email reminder for inactive users 1.1.3 - vBulletin.org Forum

It's easy to install but i do hate the mod's that have a million edits it seem's or the instructions are not explain easier. Right now i basically don't have many mods installed cause none of them caught my eye or what i think the members would use.

I've been on the receiving end of a few of those reminders and usually just delete without reading... maybe if they included some hot threads? (Of course, if you also have a newsletter that might be overkill)

I haven't looked into this one. But thanks for the link!

By the way, can you adjust the title of the e-mail reminder? Or, is it a standard "We miss you!" e-mail?

Because if you put something like.... "Walt Disney Boards Updates!" as the title and then include a link to the 'unread posts' or a special page or thread, then you might actually keep folks updated with them having to simply delete it.

there's always a way to change things like that, even if they don't have an option to do it in the control panel you could always change the text in the plugin before uploading.
