Zoints Social Networking Profile System

Who uses the Zoints Social Networking Profile service and what is your opinion of it? How much traffic does it usually send your forum a day on average? How have your members responded to it?

Look forward to hearing feedback on it.

One thing that I wish that Zoints would adapt is more of a Facebook.com approach to it. Instead of letting the users totally murder the profile page and turn it into myspace with ugly colors and all that jazz, Zoints should have a uniform profile like Facebook so that the profiles can remain clean and uniform.

I would consider giving it a try then. However as it is right now it is just too messy and unprofessional to me. Just my opinion though.

Our doors are closed to new forums joining right now while we focus our efforts on readying the Zoints system for some news we're set to announce. But you're right, we haven't provided enough configuration options to forum owners. One example of an upcoming change which is pertinent to this thread: when we do open back up, you will be able to decide if your members are able to edit the style of their profiles or if they have to stick with the default you create and assign.

If you want that Facebook type look, you will be able to have it.

It's going to much a MUCH more configurable system for forum owners.

I have to say, David Chapman has really been open to forum owners during the development of Zoints. He has contacted me multiple times just to see how things are going with my forums and to see if I have any suggestions or concerns.

I was skeptical of this social networking system, and my skepticism increased after trying to voice my opinion on another forum, especially after my voice was silenced there. I was able to talk to David shortly after and he personally answered any questions I had. Shortly after, I installed the system of all four of the forums I had at the time. I have since added a fifth forum and will install it once Zoints is opened back up for additional forums.

I listen to folks like each of you because I am nowhere smart enough to have all the answers myself. In the end, Zoints is about empowering the forum owner via mutually beneficial relationships. If we're not doing a good job of that, then we will quickly evolve. Thanks to amazing feedback from forum owners, the butterfly is about to emerge from its' cocoon
