| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto Thanks for this info Michelle!
For some reason I had never even looked into picking up pro-looking pictures for my site. Interesting.
Wouldn't you find these (or similar ones) online for free like on Google Images though? |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto You might be able to find a great image on Google Images, but you're taking a risk that it may be owned by someone else with a lawyer. Besides, everybody else has probably already grabbed the same image... if you pay a little for a professional image that no one else is using your site will look better than the other guy's |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto well everyone can use those images, if they pay for them, or if they photoshop out the watermark, not that i ever did that.... |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto For my pictures, most of the ones that I want/need are sort of cartoonish. So, pro pics like those won't help me too much.
But, do you have any other sites like that one? I'd be interested in looking at some others for some ideas. |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto Sheesh....I shouldn't have been lazy and should've just done a search myself
If I wasn't diggin' through web stats (I'm fascinated by numbers and I've got a ton to look at now! ) for my bandwidth issue I would've searched.
Thank you sir! |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto Arny do you have a vector program like Illustrator? IStockPhoto has lots of cartoony vector illustrations, in fact vectors are pretty much all I use these days. |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto Great...now I have to go and Google 'vector program'
I don't have whatever it is that you're referring to. But, I'm thinking that it's probably something that I could use.
Do you have an example of what you've done? |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto A raster image is composed of pixels with each pixel having a specific value. A vector image is composed of instructions on how to form shapes with specific values and does not use pixels. Vector is math-based. That is why a vector image can be scaled to any size and will still retain its sharpness, whereas as raster image has a set resolution and if it is enlarged it becomes blurry.
Here's a what was originally a vector image, saved as gif for the web:
Here's the same image, sized UP from the original with no loss of quality: |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto Oh, okay. That's cool.
And, just so happens that's the type of 'cartoonish' look that I need for the site as well. |

| Re: Coupon codes for iStockPhoto The only down side is that there are few free vectors... but when you do find an image you like, it's really easy to move and recolor each element... even take elements from several images and combine them into another image, without worrying about edges...
I even have a few Disney vector images... (shh). (Not that I'd use them or anything, I just think they're pretty.) |
