Futuristic Hologram Design.

Step 1:

Let’s start out by creating a new file. I used a 650×300 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a white color. Now create a new layer and draw a circle with #0097FF color shade and 185×185 px dimensions. Then cut the top half of the circle.

Step 2:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Inner Glow and Gradient Overlay blending options to your half circle design from step one.

Result:

Step 3:

Select the Ellipse Tool, in a new layer draw a #0096FF color shade ellipse with 178 x 94 px dimensions.

Step 4:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Stroke blending option to your ellipse layer from step three.
Result:

Step 5:

In a new layer draw another ellipse with #007CD2 color shade on the center of the first ellipse design.

Step 6:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add a Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options to your second ellipse layer.

Result:

Step 7:

On the layers palette turn off the half circle layer from step one. Now add a marquee selection around the ellipse designs. Then go to Edit > Copy Merged and paste it into your canvas. A new layer with the ellipse design should appear on your canvas a long with the white background, get rid of the background by adding a marquee selection around the ellipse with the Magic Wand Tool and cut it.

Step 8:

Resize the second ellipse design by couple of inches and position it on the center. Then set the layer's blending mode to Hard Light.

Step 9:

Now duplicate the second ellipse design layer and go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur, apply the settings below. Then drag the motion design layer up so the motion blur is only going up.

Result:

Step 10:

If you want the hologram screen to be longer just duplicate the motion blur design layer from the last step and play with the opacity level settings.

Step 11:

Select the Horizontal Type Tool and set the font family to Webdings, 90 pt, smooth and #007CD2 color shade. In a new text layer type "!" which is a spider icon.

Step 12:

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Glow and Gradient Overlay blending options to your text layer with the spider icon. Then set the layer's blending mode to Soft Light.

Result:

Step 13:

Now add small particles all over the hologram screen, to do this just duplicate your spider icon text layer and resize it through Edit > Transform > Scale. Add as many small particles as you wish but make each particle unique by playing with the layer's opacity level or the blending mode options.
Results:

Re: Futuristic Hologram Design.

All welll and good, but how do we get the image of Princess Leia in there saying, "Help me Obi Wan Brandoni, you're my only hope!"?

LOL....had a good chuckle with that one Michele.

You can't forget about R2D2 though. He's gotta be there too.

Re: Futuristic Hologram Design.

Adding R2D2 would make the tutorial even harder to follow, lol
