Adwords on Yahoo?

It appears Google's content network may soon include the big Y:

Advertisers are growing increasingly suspicious of Google's dominance of the online market, and last week's tie-up with Yahoo has only added fuel to the fire.

Under the deal, Google's ads will be shown with Yahoo search results, and, although the current deal only affects the US and Canada, UK advertisers are crying monopoly and calling for regulatory investigation of the whole market.

Is this good or bad for us webmasters? Personally I am not a big fan of Yahoo Sponsored Search interface so I am somewhat in favor of this -

I think its good for us that live in the US. Now you get to be shown on both major search engines for the price of one.

Re: Adwords on Yahoo?

In the long run this is going to be bad, both for publishers and advertisers. For instance, just yesterday I was advertising one of my blog for a few keywords through Adwords and even though no one else is bidding for them, Google decided that 5 cents a click was too low for them and raised it to over US$4 for one of the keywords!

And they claim they let the market decide the price of the ads! If that is true, then how come a keyword which was priced at 5 cents just 24hours back be priced at US$4.19 24hours later?

Thankfully at this moment I can take my money and go to another ad network but I am not quite sure how much longer I would be able to do that if Google controls an overwhelming majority of the online ad market.

I take your point about the virtual monopoly G will have - but I think you can address the problem you cited above by improving your quality score - I have lowered the cost of my campaigns by making the ads relevant to the keywords in question (think keywords in the title of your ads) and going after long tail keywords (ie keywords that fewer people are bidding on) - so far I've been able to keep my clicks down at around 0.05 -
