Are books becoming obsolete?

In English class today we had a writing assignment written on the board. The topic? - are books becoming obsolete? Which made me to start thinking...and I decided, YEAH, I don't really read much, although I kind of wish I did. When I do read, it's usually on the internet.

So what do you think? Are books becoming obsolete?

As a matter of fact, I know quite well on this subject cause my grandparents are book dealers. When books that are quite old become work like 5 cents...they are definatly becoming obsolete!

I'm asking myself the same question.

Anyways, I do read.
We have to in school, but I also read because I want to.

My favourite books are: Harry Potter Trilogy, LOTR Trilogy, Da Vinci Code, Digital Fortress and Angels & Demons

I recommend you all to read, because you get smarter and its also fun.
When you read something really exciting, you cant stop reading.

Books are becoming obsolete as technology progresses though man is trying to surpass the boundaries and create an technological world bound to fall under severe consequences.

Schoolbooks aren't becoming obsolete here in the Netherlands, in this advanced country we don't use laptops as of yet, as it is in the US.

I like to read books also, LOTR stuff .

If you don't know the meaning of a word, there is a simple way to figure it, a book called the dictionary :p. Or an online dictionary.

Books are sadly becoming obsolete, although i myself am an avid reader. It's all the goddamn TV and s*** that's being thrust into our generations minds. I've grown up without a TV, makes you appreciate a lot more things in life. Tbh in another generation or so, we'll be like the society in fahrenheit 451 >_>. Just my opinion

That's kind of funny, because that is the book that we are reading in class.
