Re: Forum Rules !

then modify it to suit your site, here is ours

Re: Forum Rules !

Patricks book has a great section about user guidelines. I'm using a modified version of it.

Downloadable Templates - Managing Online Forums

You can look at the template there. Good book too.

Re: Forum Rules !

Hello leonnix,

Over the years, I've spent a lot of time crafting my guidelines and adjusting them where needed. I think of them as a vision statement and I think it's important to communicate, through them, who your community is and who you want to be. What is appropriate, what isn't, etc. Everything is different, but it's important to find what you want and write guidelines that speak to that.

Thanks,

Patrick

Re: Forum Rules !

I agree with you ! I believe that rules also act as the first line of defense. It will help you avoid a lot of troubles later on if you make it right from the beginning.

Re: Forum Rules !

Definitely. Having guidelines clear and posted makes it so that people feel that you are being up front and honest, rather than pulling imaginary rules from your head.
