Got a new Mt Bike

When I was around 15 I was a huge bike fan and probably spent at least 12 hrs a week on my bikes. I got involved with football and things in highschool and college came along and I haven't really thought about them since but I just bought a new bike (a beginner mountain bike). Rode a 10.66 mile trip today around the city and in a few parks to just get the rust outta me.

Anyways, I'm just pumped I got myself into biking again. I got a 2007 Model Diamondback Response. It's a Hardtail (front susp. but no rear) since I'm a bigger guy (250lbs) and didn't have the money to get a really tough full susp. bike for right now.

I'll have some of my own pics tomorrow, but here is what it is. It's starter components for pretty serious riders, but I plan on upgrading over the winter to help the bike along.

MTN HardTail Response `07-Diamondback Bicycles

As long as I still like riding like I used to I'll probably get a specialized sometime within the next year as well.

Anyone else ride?

Sweet bike, shocks, over sized frame Nice!

I have a similar story as you, I was into mountian biking pretty hard core. We had a few trials around town that you could spend hours in.
Anyways... got out of it for 13 years, and now my wife and I both have a bike that we take out.

I'll never forget the bike I use to have.. Probably because it got stolen

it was a Trek 830 and this was 1990's
I'll try to find one on ebay

Re: Got a new Mt Bike

Just got a mountain bike myself it all started when my son wanted a newspaper round in the mornings and what with the state of Great Britain now it's not safe to let your kids out.
So my son got a new bike after he had his first stolen and each morning we are out delivering newspapers, the first few weeks I would walk in the house with a swagger like John Wane not from getting off my horse but knackered.

My legs felt like jelly but in the last few weeks must be getting fitter, we now go out for rides around the hills and the bond with my son is great. One thing that amazed me in the morning is the amount of people I see riding bikes on the roads in these dark mornings with NO lights, that was one of the first things that I made sure we bought.

I can recommend to anyone that bike riding is great fun and a great way to get healthy,I can't wait for the lighter morning and warmer weather got some great trails to go on.

Re: Got a new Mt Bike

I wondered if this thread was still about just an update the lighter nights are with us and now I go bike riding with a cousin and he's into it big time. When we do go out it 25 mile rides just goes to show how fitter you get from when I started. My cousin paid over £2000 for his bike and it's a full susser but for now I'm on a Fuji £300 hardtail but next year I think I'll go big time with full susser and top spec. I don't know if this site will be of interest to anybody but look up the rides and routes part there maybe something of interest to you.

I'm not a fan of Full Suspensions really. I know the advantages. But for me I'd need at least a 3,000 USD one or more to take the brutalness of my weight (245lbs) and still keep on trucking.

I also don't like the loss of pedal power (especially uphill) that FS bikes give you.
