High server load averages

These are my server load averages;

Server Load Averages 8.26 8.64 10.53

I'm assuming this is a bit too high and is bad.

However, they were in the 1s yesterday.

Any ideas on how to optimize vbulletin server wise?

Are you on shared hosting ?

Our load is currently

0.19 0.10 0.04 | 81 Users Online (3 members and 78 guests)

Yah, I'm on shared, but dedicated IP.

I don't think the IP would have anything to do with your server load.

The problem would be due to shared hosting and probably being on a box that is over-sold.

Hmmm..time to either upgrade to a larger hosting plan or get on a dedicated server.

What is your website stats? Like high enough for a dedicated 2 be worth it?

if shared lmoad can be anything, maybe when you looked BU were running. You should look at the loads at several times of the day and over a week period and see if it is recurrent at the same time and always that high

On average load should stay below 1. If it peaks with moments like during BU (zipping is heavy) then it is ok.

Maybe server had mail strerss or firewall hammering .. that also can send load high
ANd as said if over sold .... then it is always high, time to move out before your side becomes un available with moments
