Internal or external TV Tuner Card?

I am planning to buy a TV Tuner Card, mainly to record few programs occasionally (TV is placed right next to the computer).

For this purpose, would it be a good idea to go for an internal TV Tuner Card or an external TV Tuner Box?

I've been thinking about this for a while!

If you google 'WinTV PVR' you'll get a nice pci card from Hauppauge. It has built in MPEG2 decoding giving your main cpu a bit of a rest lol.

I'm thinking about using it for streaming my tv over the internet so that I can view them on my phone/pda (HTC TyTN II).

Well I have an internal one and haven't even messed with it yet!
I would guess go with the cheapest unless you have tons of room in your box that an extra card isn't going to break you for space.

I would probably say an external one so you can use it in different computers - take a look at the Pinnacle models they seem pretty good.

Re: Internal or external TV Tuner Card?

I have been hearing from couple of people that one can't record TV shows with an external TV tuner card.

Is this true?

Because if it is, then I would have to go for the internal one at all cost because the basic reason behind getting a TV tuner is to record a few things.
