Maybe the way some are configured have something to do with it. The site above I posted loads for me in less than a second. However this page took about 15sec.

Joomla is a bit hard to understand with some of its admin elements at first. But when you do get it, it is really easy to post content any way you want to.

I use it on my site as well for the portal. I then use vbulletin for the rest of the site but I'm not bridging the two environments together. Maybe eventually I will but for now it seems to working okay for me.

Hmm... when you're done, lemme know cuz I see it! I too have a social site in mind ... also geared towards a specific niche! Hopefully your niche isn't my niche. Eeek!
