phpLD 3.3 Beta is now released!

I know a few of you have phpld link directories. I don't have time to update mine yet, but I will as soon as I can

Quote:
phpLD Version 3.3 is now in Beta, and available for download for all standard phpLD v3 license holders. Before you download, please read over this carefully, as there are some very important considerations.

1. At this time it is not advised that you upgrade from an earlier version, and we are not supporting upgrades, so do so at your own risk. We may not be able to quickly help you if something goes wrong.

2. Version 3.3 is well tested, and we believe it is good enough to run as a new install (not an upgrade). We will be providing limited support during beta in the v3 forums for those that are running a new installation.

3. You must must have a license to install 3.3 beta for the site or location where you are installing it.

4. If you do not want to participate in the beta, then do nothing. In a couple of weeks, we will announce that 3.3 has moved from beta to final.

While we feel this version is ready for a live site, there are a few reasons why we are not advising users to do upgrades, and are calling it Beta.

1. We want to give mod developers and template designers time to prepare mods and templates for the new version.

2. It is very common to find issues in the first couple of weeks after a new version is released. In the last release, most issues we found were small, and didn't effect everyone. Nonetheless, we prefer to exercise some caution, so as to be sure we are providing you with the best product possible when we go final.

If you are a standard v3 license holder, login to your user area, and under Available Downloads, you will see phpLD v3.3 Beta listed under Other Products and Mods.

Here are some previews
phpLD 3.3 Preview : php Link Directory

Just with a quick glance, I see some nice improvements
Quote:
1. You will notice there is a new section called Article Comments. phpLD now allows the admin to turn on article comments as well as require captcha to prevent spam, and we hope this will be a great way to keep your site active, and full of fresh content.
2. Also, there is the new Pages section that allows you to add new pages to phpLD such as About Us, or virtually anything you wish.

Just wanted to thank you for posting. Things are going great with the beta release, and look forward to seeing some great integration with vBulletin, both as a link directory and a blog.

I started checking out that preview link a little more after I made this post last night and I'd have to say, it's looking real good.
I'm glad I just have the default setup on my 2 latest directories, so upgrading shouldn't be an issue

I can remember using the free 2.0 version when you didn't even have a paid version.
You guys have certainly made a name for yourself in the directory world.
