What do you think about building a space colony on mars Maybe underground, or even in a craft hovering above.

I think building colonies on Mars now is a good idea so by the time the Earth is inhabitable we will have another planet waiting for us.

I think living underwater is a much more realistic, and optimistic approach. 75% of the world is water, so why not make use of water? If we can fly crap through space, land places, and all that, we can surely fund some underwater stations pretty easily.

what about just building our own islands

Quote:
The third environment is "The World", which consists of 300 man made islands in the shape of continents - but unlike the overcrowded original, each island in this world is up for private sale.

This can be broken down into a collection of estate homes for a community of weekenders or year round residents, resorts, or the perfect island sanctuary for those who can afford it. Miniature replicas of England, Shanghai, even Tasmania are up for grabs as location is still everything - even on the small scale.

I had heard some things about Dubai this and Dubai that, but never really took a look at the information. I'm like floored...that's beautifully put together (I can't imagine the prices) and really sets the bar for 'new' construction.

It kinda has some parts of the vision that Walt Disney had planned for the 'real' EPCOT (Walt Disney's Original Epcot: Gallery II: Conceptual Drawings)

Holy crap! That's a great idea!

You can test the survival rate on the planet and we could also test some long range weapons and their effectiveness.

I'm more fascinated with this idea of building islands. Granted their price will be insane, but if there was one thing that was thought we'd never be able to add more of that was real estate!

I dont think i could live on one of them out of fears for tsunami's or hurricans or an earth quake would probably just destroy it all. Guess we'll have to wait and find out.
