Spam mails

Anyone ever been tempted to reply to one ?
Before....... anyone takes me seriously, they're ALL bullpoo, but I wonder how far you could take the P before they realise theyr'e being spammed back ?

Iv'e got a Mr Dawudo, he's kindly donating 30% of 15 million for my time. He lives in Dubai and has got aids < thats why his family wont speak to him anymore, but he needs mercy on his soul, so thats why God intervened and chose ME.

If it wasnt for the probability I'd end up on every wierdos e-m list, and get a hell of a load of virus's keygens & being hacked to fook, I would love to wind up one of these ***oles. Oh his addy is .dk

**panic** I just deleted shlwapi.dll, says on here its a winders syst file, and I just reported it to micra$haft as a bug lol. Too late cus I'm on my lappy now, sort main out when.......well after the weekend-ish

So advice is Dont open any spam mail, I even delete M8's if they dont look right

Re: Spam mails

And on a Microsoft driven computer, anti virus, firewall anti adware filters, turned to maximum, and updated in real time, and still then you risk every mail.

Depending where you mail is hosted, have a filter, ati virus on the server do a pre clean already.

Then maybe switch to imap instead pop for a period till it cools down.

I'm getting banged to bugger, and yes I pay for anti spam etc on my top range package on my isp host, does it work? nope.

Is it me ?
Every time I fart, akka, switch my comps on, Iv'e got yet another, bugger knows what installed ?
Last couple of day's gems are/were?
Mirar Toolbar
Media Motor
New Dial
sfonditalia

One of the above is some prOn site link, and trust me, I never go into that saddo stuff. Sure all Iv'e had time for is, read the news, and collect a few mails.

I'm running a router {of which I now switch off with my comp @ night} sufficient firewall and AV, so where am I going wrong ?

What combos have you got installed ?

Mine is
Nod av
Avg free
Winders DEfender
Sygate firewall { I knocked winders one on the head }
and a few crappy freebie ones like spybot, that never find anything.Cant believe this - I'm running my main in safe, right now and spybot has loaded an old version LOL [/me is trying everything ]

p.s @ Bran, I never open anything, even IF I'm expecting something, it gets scanned
p.p.s @ eric, whats imap ? will do a googlie in the morning

Re: Spam mails

Wow... I surf all over the net... and have yet to get any spyware, or virii (SP?).
I don't open a lot of mail, as I don't get much in my personal account. I have berated my friends and family so much about junk mail and forwards, that they are afraid I'll come over and smash their PC if they send me that crap.

I have used Hotmail since the early days for anything I need to sign up for online, and have pretty much switched to Gmail for just about anything else.

No problems so far... of course... now that I have said that... I'm probably screwed!! LOL

Re: Spam mails

El Fuego, ddon't start to whine about not getting spam sooner or later we'll all end with that inte box.

Anorak : even for isp it is becoming hell to manage that. I run a server with a lot to prevent spam and stats show 75% of mails coming in the server are labeled high spam (means dropped) and from the 25 remaining 12 are labeled spam so most probably spam. We decided not to kill those since all those automatic filters aren't perfect and we don't want to loose to many spam labeled mails that are ok ...
Have you seen that these days spammers use images with text ? That is completely disabling the routines looking for keywords, sender mails are also not a key to look for since they use compromised accounts and open private computers to send...
Basically it is getting harder and harder to scan spam...

Only thing we can do is all keep our computers as safe as possible, and isp do same with servers...

I was mostly referring to the spyware and virus stuff the OP mentioned.... that's what I haven't had any problem with.

I do get an occasional spam mail... but for the most part, my personal address isn't "out there" as I don't use it to sign up for anything.

Re: Spam mails

I get hit to F by everywhere ? We have Bt/Yahoo over here, and yes I pay higher for anti-everything stuff {which still gets through}. suppose its because Iv'e kept my origional mail for years. Learnt my lesson since then, never knew why peeps kept loads of boogie mail addies, I do now, I got a googlie and a hotmail one.
Doesnt stop my browsers though, I must be the biggest Anorak going, cant even read the news and something else has got me ?
