Well this is the first real issue I've had with it, and I purchased it in Jan.
They are sending a recovery CD in the mail, I'll give that a try, if now, I'm going to send it back to HP.
My XP is fine as well ;)
It's a good thing I have an extra box, and then the laptop, but I just want to use both my monitors

i did have a issue the other day, got a auto update from MS and it killed my wireless router for the lappy, had to upgrade the firmware on the router, all is fine now...

I had the blue screen of death every other day on my desktop. It ended up being a conflict with my old wireless cards drivers. apart from that, Vista rocks

It's on my tower unit.. I'm running kubuntu on the thinkpad.
I should get the recovery cd today but I have a feeling it's not going to help.

so I'm pretty sure it's the graphics card
I pulled it out and cleaned it up some, and the slot and placed it back in place.
so far so good, but if it looks up in the next 2 hours, HP is call
I only have 20 days left on my warranty

I just saw this thread I had this problem a couple times and I watched this and it fixed it on a new Vista lappy. I have since uninstalled Vista and put Xp on it. I hate Vista
