I have a friend who has a fairly active blog on Blogger, but wants to convert it to Wordpress and has asked my help even though I have no experience with either WP or Blogger
How big a task is this and do you have any recommendations?
Is this a wordpress self-hosted I'm assuming? Or is it a wordpress.com hosted-by-wp one? I know this method works if its a .org self hosted wordpress, and might work with a wordpress.com one as well
1.) Install wordpress on the new site
2.) in the admin panel go to Tools > Import
3.) Select Blogger and follow the on-screen directions which are:
Howdy! This importer allows you to import posts and comments from your Blogger account into your WordPress blog.
To use this importer, you must have a Google account and an upgraded (New, was Beta) blog hosted on blogspot.com or a custom domain (not FTP).
The first thing you need to do is tell Blogger to let WordPress access your account. You will be sent back here after providing authorization.
"AUTHORIZE" click that button.
4.) keep following wordpresses directions and you're done...
Thanks I'll give these a try. This is the downside to being "the guy with the website" everybody thinks you can do everything. I just run my little forum....
Thanks for the link mate. I had a similar thought when I started my blog on Blogger. Now I think my problem will be solved when I want to shift to wordpress and independent hosting plan. But does Blogger allow that anyway? Because, its like you used Blogger's free service and now taking everything you built on it's grounds and dumping it just because you have good enough blog with nothing in Blogger's hands. lol! I don't know, I should be reading your link's content.:-)
