Delaware Weight Loss (review)

Hey all, I am just about finished this site I have been working on for a good friend of mine. He already has a general/family doctor practice here in Delaware and is now a certified bariatric doctor (only one in DE) and is branching out to offer weight loss programs.

He wanted a site, asked me, and I decided to go with wordpress. This IS NOT a blog per se as it is a website for his practice.

There are still somethings I want to tweak. on the frontpage big pic, i need to add 4 more pics and articles, he just owes me pictures for it. so if you click the 2. 3. 4. or 5. it breaks the page now.

The logo im still tweaking he REALLY wanted that font so he gets what he wants, but ill spruce it up a bit.

The URL i know is long, he wants to do some SEO so i suggested and he will be buying, today, a shorter keyword rich domain name.

but what do you think otherwise?

navigation
usability
etc.

Sucks when they ask for ugly fonts, haha.

I think it looks really good. For simple SEO install the All-In-One SEO Pack plugin. It's got all the stuff you need, without the extra fluff of some of the others.

The 2 navbars look good, but It might be confusing to some users who aren't used to that type of setup but it is nice to have a navbar for pages, and a navbar for categories.
I'd personally get rid of the Meta box in the sidebar as it really doesn't serve a purpose for the users visiting the blog.

Other than that, I like it all.

yeah i was torn on the meta myself, its just esaier for me while working then manually typing out the login page..lol

AIO SEo is installed as well as google sitemaps and analytical.

I got a sweet new domain picked out now too

I like it a lot. The only mark for improvement I could suggest is the dark red color of the logo is more difficult to read against the black background. Otherwise I think its awesome.

Solid little site my friend!

I agree with Warren though...might want to use the red from the buttons (Contact Us, etc) on that logo because that deep red is hard to read against the black.

Yeah he wanted a upscale richy look cause that is where his practice is and most of his patients are well to do i guess you could say.

ok seo gurus, question...

obiously the URL now is not that good for seo

he already has his cards and pamphlets printed with the URL so it has to stay

would it be any benefit to buy some better keyword rich domains and do something with them? or should I just change the title of the blog to the keywords and go from there?

The URL shouldn't hurt you that much, and it even has some keywords within it so that isn't that bad of a starting point. Its quite a long domain obviously but if you market it right it shouldn't hurt you much.

and Yes I would just make the title of the site your keywords within reason.

yeah he wants to rank for "delaware weight loss"

easy enough although there are 5.5 million results, many of those are just weight loss.

most of the traffic will come direct from print anyway

he is not too web savvy so ima just do the best i can with what i got and cross my fingers

Shouldn't be too bad by looking at the competition quick. Wordpress is loved by google so it'll be fine.

Not sure if you did, but add him to googles business/local listing as well.

yeah i was going to do that today Andy, i wish google stopped the regional, customized search stuff.....

it's hard to get a handle on how you really rank.
