Do you allow comments?

To me it seems there's little point in having a blog in the first place if you're going to disable the comment function. Why share your life online if you don't want people to start a dialogue with you? Yet I see many web logs with the comments turned off; sometimes the author will make a statement to the effect that they were getting harassing comments, sometimes there will be no explanation at all. Do you have comments enabled or disabled? Maybe more importantly, do you answer them?

I allow comments I see it as part of being an interactive site -- which is the whole point. I don't have that many comments now but I had quite a few before I switched from Zoints.

I want to spark conversation and discussion. I want to challenge people to think and get their response, even get a mild argument going.

yes i allow comments, i like to hear the good and the bad, if its spam i delete it.

I allow comments on all my blogs too, unfortunately I get a lot of spam comments on them and not so many real comments

I allow comments but they have to be moderated.. I also use intensedebate for my comment section.

I allow comments, but no-one seems to comment, then again, maybe I should make blog posts more often.

How about an extension to this question.
On your comments, do you have the nofollow tag setup?

nofollow attribute = google wont follow it to your site

some bloggers disable the comments because of spam. and if the blog talks about a delicate issue, you'll surely get bad comments.

I allowed comments when my blog was new, and that too dofollow ones, to encourage people into commenting. But later when I found out that it was an invitation to spam, I just pulled that feature off with simply nofollow commenting.

Try allowing Dofollow comments, maybe people will post more often, but then you will have to allow linkbacks.

Yes, I allow comments on my blog and approve them once a week. The website link in the comment are dofollow links.

No, I do not allow comments to be posted on my blog. Its mainly due to that I just do not have the time to monitor the comments.

And, my blog is linked up with my forum. When I post a blog, most of the time its linked to a thread in the forum. If you want to post comments, join the forum and post them there. I see no reason to have comments spread across 2 sites.

I allow comment because i believe having comments enabled is likely to increase the popularity of your blog.
