Permalink Structure

Which structure do you think is best for SEO:

site.com/2009/05/10/sampleposttitle/

or

site.com/category/id-sampleposttitle/

Re: Permalink Structure

We're talking Wordpress here right?

I personally use

Code:
%category%/%postname%.html
I don't know what's better SEO wise, but I always thought that date in the URL isn't such a great idea since SE visitors may think the information is out of date just by looking at the URL.

I think this is perfect for SEO.

Code:

I have /category blocked via robots.txt file along with many other folders.

So you simply don't use the category filter other than for usability (for human visitors)?

Re: Permalink Structure

Has this proven to be beneficial in terms of SEO? Or is it just a preference of yours?

Re: Permalink Structure

I found it on a SEO blog and thought I'd give it a go. I've been using it on one of my new blogs, online for 9 days, and I am pos.4 in Google for one of my keyword phrases. So it seems to be doing ok. Obviously 9 days does not a glowing report make, but it's looking good.

Obviously there are other aspects contributing to the SERPs and not just this robots.txt but hey...
