I found an interesting happening taking place when they didn't allow a user to use their HTML editor in hacks that the user was developing (whereas they had allowed this before for other users) How I saw this, was that the hacks/mods this user was creating was maybe in direct competition with the ones they have planned

I am surmising, as well as trying to keep a positive slant on things

do we think article, news etc ??? The coder was refused to use the editor we all use in vb...

I have the feeling indeed the forum will be the base selling app (hopefully not stripped from many options in future releases) and that we will indeed see a load of addons for extra $$$

Let's hope they keep the hook ssytem etc open for independant developpers so we still can enjoy free addons. Because it is pretty easy for them to close the door for free addons if they want.

Re: Jelsoft's future: acquisition news

exactly Articles, News etc are a big feature for building a serious and growing community

I can't see them taking away the ability for free addons because where would they get their future ideas from, they have not exactly been all inspiring in getting to a CMS system in the past 3 to 4 years, so I think they first need to have the 'artists' design and create the mods and then they can gauge the interest and bring out their own, if that's where the future money is ;)

the funny thing is, it is because of the free hacks on vb.org (for example) that I have no problem buying the vb forums in the first place

Honestly, reading some of the posts (on various forums) you would think the sky had just caved in. In the short term I doubt there will be any real changes - in the longer term, only those in control really know. I'm pretty sure they haven't just spent a lump of money to drive it down the drain.
