| vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1
We're pleased to announce the first public beta of vBulletin 3.8.0, after running the earlier alpha releases here on vBulletin.com, we're satisifed that any serious issues have been resolved. Any customer with an active vBulletin license can download the beta.
There is an extensive blog post by Darren that showcases some of the new features and improvements that have been made to vBulletin 3.8.0. Significance of a Beta Release This is beta software. If you are not fully at home with backing-up and restoring your forum, dealing with bugs and regular upgrades, do not install this beta version.
Customers should bear in mind that this is a public beta, not a certified 'stable' release so the following caveats apply: - Beta software is unsupported and you install beta versions at your own risk.
- Some minor bugs remain unresolved at this time, so beta software should not be on production sites.
- You should always back up your database fully before attempting to install beta software.
- If you choose to install this version, you should be aware that we plan to release new beta versions in rapid succession as bugs are fixed and holes are plugged. Do not install this beta version if you are not willing or able to keep up-to-date with new releases.

| Re: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released The PM Reporting will allow me to remove one mod to the site!
I wish that there was a 'image resizer' option added among other things
Thread Prefix Permissions will help as well.

| Re: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released But I don't see any good idea behind to put a dropdown called "Community". Aside from "Album", "Group" thing should get more focused. |

I think not ! |

| Re: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released I'm wondering how many new releases before 4.0?
They mentioned in an earlieer release this would be something which was completely reengineered. Also, on the Blog Beta release they said the Gold would only work on 3.7.4 So I'm guessing there are going t be a few more releases coming up..

Reason: Wrote 4.0 rather than 3.7.4

| Re: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released Utter crap I don't see anything useful for most webmasters other than PM quick reply and report.. Seeing as how most of my members don't bother with the social "features", I'll stick with 3.7.x until 4.0 comes out if it offers anything decent. |

| Re: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released This time i am not using any beta version's. When a final release comes out i'll upgrade and then wait for template designer to update my template.
This beta version to me is not worth the time to install. I hate bugs... |

| Re: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released So we skipped a few numbers, what happened last night? I went to sleep and vbulletin skipped some number's. Perhaps this is just a dream and 4.0 will be out next month.
Well, time to hit the snooze button. |

| Re: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released I think we got our cake with the 3.7 line. I personally think the 3.8 line was an unexpected and fast release so soon after the 3.7 series so I'm not surprised with the lack of features in the 3.8.
That said, vbulletin is becoming very bloated and many features are seldomed used by the majority of administrators. For me, the only feature welcomed in the feature rich 3.7 series was the prefixes and even that is basic compared to IPB's awesome multi-mod feature which I've always hoped vbulletin would include.

I have zero members making use of all the social features and that's on all three forums. I see this bloat being added and wonder why so many people are getting so excited about it. I see all the thank you posts in the 3.8 release thread over on vB.com and begin to wonder if I've somehow lost the plot.
I'm really disappointed with Jelsoft and the direction they seem to be heading with vB. They ignore the glaring issues that so many people have pointed out to them, all the while adding fluff and foo-foo features that leave me cold. Sadly, with all the money I've spent on vB licenses and add-ons, it's become an 'in for a penny, in for a pound' situation for me. |

| Re: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta 1 Released vBulletin 3.8.0 Release Candidate 2 THIS IS PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE. IT IS UNSUPPORTED. If you are not fully at home with backing-up and restoring your forum, dealing with bugs and regular upgrades, DO NOT INSTALL THIS VERSION
It is time for the second release candidate of 3.8. Primarily, this addresses issues that have been reported since the previous release candidate.
However, it does add one small feature: the "Use Remote YUI" option now lets you specify Yahoo! or Google as the provider. If your board is accessed using SSL, the Google-provided files will automatically be requested via SSL as well (preventing browser warnings). The Yahoo!-provided files do not have this option.
We would like to thank all customers who have taken part in the beta/RC process and especially those who have filed bug reports. Please continue to do so during the Release Candidate stage, so that we can make 3.8.0 as bug-free as possible.
Customers running older versions of vBulletin 3.8.0 should upgrade as soon as possible, to ensure that any known problems are eliminated.
There is an extensive blog post by Darren that showcases some of the new features and improvements that have been made to vBulletin 3.8.0.
In addition, the scheduled release of 3.7.5 has been pushed back until January 6th because of the holidays. See this blog post. What does Release Candidate mean?
Release Candidate, or RC for short, means that we believe vBulletin 3.8 will be ready to be declared a "stable" and "supported" supported release once it has undergone some final testing. The only known bugs that may remain are trivial.
RCs will be released until only trivial bugs are being fixed. Once this happens, the next stage is to move on to "gold" or, as it's officially known, 3.8.0.
This is still pre-release software. If you are not fully at home with backing-up and restoring your forum, dealing with bugs and regular upgrades, do not install this version but rather wait for the final, 3.8.0 version.
Customers should bear in mind that this is a release candidate, not a certified 'stable' release so the following caveats apply: - Pre-release software is unsupported and you install beta and RC versions at your own risk.
- Some minor bugs remain unresolved at this time, so pre-release software should not be on production sites.
- You should always back up your database fully before attempting to install pre-release software.
- If you choose to install this version, you should be aware that we plan to release new RC versions in rapid succession as bugs are fixed and holes are plugged. Do not install this RC version if you are not willing or able to keep up-to-date with new releases.
- The ImpEx import system does not support the 3.8 code yet, and will not support it until the release of 3.8.0 (stable).
