If you think about how long vba has been building a CMS, and how long IB has been building a CMS |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? Yup I have both integrated with VB ( Joomla & vBadvanced) I much prefer the ease, management and functionality of my vBadvanced, I'm saying if that VB 4.0 is a utilizing a Joomla type CMS, fuuuuhget it. To many mixed emotions on it to make a decision...the cost being primary, as one with multiple licenses and, the time they're allowing without a DEMO or Beta release to preview on pre-sales.. gonna sit on it and mull it over.

| VB4.0 and updating, how do you feel? First let me say I do love the new version as far as I can see it now. But for the rest? I feel a bit numbed. When I received the mail with the discount I was happy and had in mind to do it asap. But reading it a couple times over and reading post on VB suportboard I was starting to get angrier bij the minute.
Do I understand it for real? Must all customers pay such a huge amount of money? (inactive licenses) Wow, that is sure the way to keep your customers in your shop... NOT!
I realy feel I have been taken in the by Jelsoft or whatever they will name themselve these day's.
I do not say I want an update for free, but this is not an honest way to act towards your customers.
What do you thing and feel?

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? I have vBadvanced too and like it a lot...are you guys saying that with this new release that I won't be able to use it? I'm sorry but as usual I'm confused... Also does anyone know the answer to my other question? Quote:

But for the people who can take the free upgrade path :
1> Can they install the 'old' vBlog that they have already purchased?
2> If you take the 'free' upgrade what happens when your year support license expires do you then have to buy the entire package to get further upgrades/access to vb.com/org ??!?!? or just pay another $40 a year or whatever it is now!? |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? I'm also a bit confused...
I have just gone to the new vB site to upgrade to vBulletin 4 and it looks like its going to cost me $130 extra for the new vB4 plus suite.
Is this correct?
I have also just noticed that this is a "pre -order" without a release date!
That is like going into a store, paying for a pc or television and then not knowing when it will be delivered.
I think I will hold off for a while, until more info is forthcoming.

| Re: VB4.0 and updating, how do you feel? It seems they just want to make money no matter what the customers want. I'm not at all interested in the suite and I have a feeling several others feel the same.
ps.. I hear that project tools is going to be released at the org.. WTF! release the vbulletin blogs on the org, something people actually use! |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? Well judging by the replies to my post at VB it looks like the CMS is a Joomla version 0.0.1
I said that if they want to CHARGE for this then it should be much better than Joomla!!
What is the point of paying for something where you can get better open source for free?
I hope they take notice!!!
Anyway one of my licences needed renewing so I took the plunge and paid the US$130...
Now the wait begins |

My license runs out next month and without knowing the vB4 release date, if I let my license expire I will not be able to get the discount.
Plus I just noticed another thing.....
All of us vBulletin skinners who run a demo forum for showcasing skins will have to buy 2 licenses!
IPB seem to have changed the old terms that let you run a test forum. Purchase vBulletin, the most powerful forum software available. |

I'm about 99% sure I'll never go with the suite even tho I really like the blogs
I don't like the CMS/Joomla product, and I don't want anything to do with the project tools which I hear is being released at the org anyways?
I wish vblogetin was still around |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? I went ahead and preordered it for both of my sites.
I really did not want to but honestly with all the money that vBulletin makes me I felt it was worth buying it at the low price, even if I decide to hold off on upgrading for awhile.
With that said I really don't like the direction the IB company is taking vBulletin. But I will ultimately reserve judgement until vBulletin comes out.
I would hope that they would allow those of us who pre ordered to try some of the betas (not alphas) to say thanks for our support. |

I wish vblogetin was still around | I echo the same sentiments. I don't need nor desire the Suite so just going to renew my licenses and go with the free 4.0 upgrade for the forums. The fact it was Joomla all over ( which I can NOT stand to manage) put me off big time. It goes without saying IMHO, vbulletin is still and always be the bomb in forum software, no changing that.
...they just need a few workshops on "keeping loyal customers happy" . LOL
@ Cindy... I would venture to guess 4.0 will be around awhile if I recall 3.xx versions have been around for several years...( 5 +...i think)... |

You have the option to keep your current active license until it expires (according to the 12 month term and conditions). For the remainder of your active license, you will continue to receive support and have access to forum software updates, including vBulletin 4.0 Forums. Once your license expires you will only be able to access the 4 Series software updates by switching to the new one-time owned license. For more information, visit the vBulletin FAQ."
Am I reading this wrong but does this say that if you have an active license you can upgrade to 4.0 for free but when your license runs out (as you can't renew it) you then have to shell out for the full package to get further upgrades to 4.0? |
