Bottom line is we will see this outrage again when it's released, just like we did a month or two back... this is a three part plan they have and are playing it out as planned.
Drop a bomb.... act like it was a mistake leak.
wait for the feedback......
make some small changes to please some
Drop another bomb.....
sit back and ignore everyone for a few days
make some small changes to please some
Drop another bomb....
wait yet again for the response.....
Make a couple changes... to please some...
Done deal.... site back with half the customers you had before and make more money because you are charging them more then double as before.
This plan works because most of their time is spent on support....... they now have half the customers they had before so support is a little less busy due to not as many customers. | yeah - its called cycle which its really not surpising |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? From what I can gather, you are no longer allowed just to update an existing license, once your license runs out you have to update to vB4
I think this is very bad as we all purchased lifetime vB licenses that are now invalid when our yearly time expires.
This is a way of forcing users to update to a different license. |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? Just a reminder for non US currency paying customers.
Keep an eye on the exchange rate(s) via something like XE - The World's Favorite Currency and Foreign Exchange Site since you have to the end of the month to decide.
Ofcourse it could work against you but since a lot of the major currencies are doing badly against the usd at the beginning of the month they might just pick up and you could save some money! |

| Re: vBulletin.com Removed The Complaints I have also noticed quite a few members (non Jelsoft) with low post counts that are answering complaints in the forum
I think they are Jelsoft employees, and they are there to quickly answer posts then close them |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? well i asked them on other day - currently asking for addition info because the website said its was free to upgrade to 4.0 license if i have license
here what staff said: Quote:
Your license is already upgraded to 4.0 forum and you'll receive access once vBulletin 4.0 is released.
The only difference is that your license will expire. After the pre-sales period you can upgrade your license to one that does not expire. | |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? vB truly look to be doing a job of shooting themselves in the foot
currently my sites work fine for me .. I have everything I want
if I upgrade to vB4 and the suite, I consider that my structure will actually go backwards and I will lose the functionality I currently have
3.8 may just be to where I go and no further |

I can do without everything else until they are ported
but I don't have much patience and will most likely update as soon as I can |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? ....and let's not mention the deflated value of those needing/wanting to sell their licenses.... I'm just gonna have one last vent on this as it's probably going to go down in my books as one of the worst all time business plan ventures ever by a company. Piss poor thinking, planning, informing, customer consideration.....an what I've only seen to be nothing worth the 216% increase... at the pre-sale price for a renewal/upgrade!.
WHAT WERE YOU THINKING VB!!! ..... capitalism ... uh huh we get that. *ching*... oh and add to my list of deceptive trade practices sales of product that doesn't exist... pre-sale or otherwise... can we say class action law suit? ....I don't envy them at all....not one bit.
K. I'm done... really done. . promise. LOL

| Re: vBulletin.com Removed The Complaints No, they took over back in 07, but IB have now in effect, dissolved Jelsoft, so it's all but a name which is used in the UK to flaunt our data protection laws.
Jelsoft, and vBulletin Solutions are registered trademarks of Internet Brands Inc. (NASDAQ: INET) |

| Re: vBulletin.com Removed The Complaints I am cracking up... I made a thread in which I asked how I could contact the CEO of Internet Brands.
Guess what happened? It got deleted without a comment or a reason why.
It's ridiculous and it makes IB look EXTREMELY childish and unprofessional. It's almost like they're scared of people "telling the boss." But there's no reason. What is he gonna do?
This "don't bother with clients, make the bucks" line must be coming from somewhere. And from where if not right from the top? |

the forum
-
the forum, CMS & blogs
if you have an active license when 4.0 goes GOLD, you'll be able to down but only get updates as long as your license is right now.
you can buy a brand new license at that point for $195 if you wish to continue through the life cycle of 4.0
When 5.0 comes out, you'll have to spent 195 again... same with 6.0, 7.0 etc..
There are running a sale on the Suite (forum, CMS, blogs) for 130 upgrade.
So if you have an license already you can upgrade it to receive 4.0 updates.
or you can by a brand new suite for 4.0 for a sale price of 235$
the "regular" price of the suite is 285$
also with the suite you get support tickets, with the forum you must pay more for that Quote: |

| it will definitely need redone for 4.0
vba will need to be updated by Brian and his dev's |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? This was kind of a cool read for those who haven't seen it yet.. (sorry if it's already been posted here, did a quick scan but couldn't find it), I'm sure this is a lot of mock up and such but some nice stuff coming our way with it.. First Look: The vBulletin 4.0 Style - vBulletin Community Forum
.. also they've added the Forums option now to the purchasing upgrade page so they're working on things it seems. ...also read not much is planned on being changed in the admin cp, *phew*, that was a huge thing for me as I just don't have time to learn something over right now...
..with change comes controversy and I guess we roll with it and move on, things roll off me pretty quickly usually so go with the flow I say. Going to wait till the deadline to see what transpires before I shell out $ but really liking the front end styling. |

| Re: VB4.0 and updating, how do you feel? I hope someone can answer this for me,
I have 2 owned licenses and am running 3.7.4 my license expires April 2010
If I now purchase the discounted upgrade for 4.0, will I still get support for what I running now?
Do I have to upgrade to 4.0 when my current license expires?
Thanks

| Re: VB4.0 and updating, how do you feel? If you are doing fine at this moment, keep it that way. You can also renew your license and get the latest version before 4.0 and stick with that. Last option is to go totaly for 4.0. But you must look what is best for your board.
Maybe you can do it with your current version for the next 5/10 years. After that you probaly must upgrade due to developments on internet etc.
So the new 4.0 does not force current users to upgrade and you always will get support. But for ticketsupport you do need an active license and only if the version is not legacy. But let's be honest, with almost any version you will get fine support anywhere.
