| Re: VB4.0 and updating, how do you feel? I asked this at vb too, because I am not sure, but as I see it now, upgrading is more expencive than buying a new one (4.0 ofcourse). Why? Well, the deal is that you have to pay $175 (forum license only, not suite!)when your current license exprires to get acces to unlimited upgrades. But, when you buy a new one instantly, you are ready and have a nice deal because the discount AND you still have a older license beside that. So 2 licenses instead of one for the price of $190 (for the suite!)
Maybe I am seeing this wrong, but I do think this is the best deal.

This "don't bother with clients, make the bucks" line must be coming from somewhere. And from where if not right from the top? | Thats absurd, what sort of company are they! |

Maybe I am seeing this wrong, but I do think this is the best deal. | That's true. Especially because then you can run a vB3.8 forum AND a vB4 forum at the same time on different sites.
If you don't need the suite, that's ok. And if you don't need customer support. Because with the new licensing system you only get 30 days of free support with the forum license. After that it's $80 per year. |

Look at Kier's screenshots and the screenshots on vB.com right now. There's a huge difference.

I'm not a fan of groups and crazy profiles. i'm at 3.8.4 but I'd be fine with the last 3.6.x most likely for some time still into the future.

Categories
Adding images so the text - aligns left or right with the images
Displays articles categorised on separate pages
these are the most basic features
if vBadvanced does this then I have certainly been missing something?
I think vBadvanced is great, I use it on almost every single portal I develop however I have never used it as a CMS
just a question |

-Raymond | Hi Ray .. I am with you on that, however in our development of the various portals I find the groups can be used quite effectively to achieve things all related UGC
so it certainly has its uses
3.6 is where I am mostly at
3.8 was a slow process towards
let's hope this whole vB4 thingie settles down soon

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? Pfff, I am totaly lost now. Was I thinking that the offer of $190 was an offer for customers. Now I understand it is an offer only for upgrade. That is what I found out when I started a purchase when I was logged in my account.
But in the announchement on the board they do not mention the word 'upgrade' so I was lost there.
So it seems that it s a bad bargain afterall, paying 190 to upgrade.

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? At least if you guys CAN upgrade lol
The German customers can't start upgrading till next week. The German vB site has been offline since Oct. 14th and IB have the kindness to start work at getting it back online. But not starting till Monday... A joke.
But hey, this whole business is one big joke. I wish I could laugh about it. |

| Re: vbulletin.com updated to 4.0? Yes, that is also such a ridiculous thing ontop of all those other things.
And how dumb was I thinking that the 190 was the price for loyal customers for a new license.
Well, back to Earth now than!
Edit, my reply was ment for Beentold, Ohiosweetheart replied at the same time as me.
