Just ran across this site to search for your backlinks on twitter, it will find them even if they are using a "tinyurl" type service

I always use this site for checking backlinks to a site:

It's not working at the moment lol. It gets its info from Yahoo so backlinks are more up to date. It also shows you the PR of the link and whether it's do or no follow.

That's a pretty good tool. Just checked my site backlinks using the tool and found a good number of links linking back to my site.

I just see several backlinks from twitter,and i think traffic is more important than backlinks if you want to use web 2.0 site to promotion your site.

I never understand the benefits of TinyURL though. What good does it do?

I don't use tinyurl if I can help it, I like cli.gs and bit.ly for my short links

As to why.. Twitter only allows 140 characters, so you can see a long URL would take up valuable space.

This tool also will help show who is talking about you, we know most social bookmarking links are nofollow, but all links are good IMO

Surely not all links are good. I mean, I read a post from Mat Cutts - don't have it on fingertips - that for nofollow even the anchor text is not counted, and the same for external nofollow. And of course the PR juice is not passed.

When we talk about building backlinks ignoring PR, we intend to contextualize our page with respect to the anchor text. That has to be one of the biggest ways that Google would compute search result rankings.

You do know that even if does have nofollow, its still a clickable link right? Not to mention the minor search engines will follow it. The big 3 wont, but I have seen no follow links indexed in a page on msn and google before. Yeah you dont get credit for it, but its a way for people to find your site. Any advertising is good, special free kind LOL

links are links, some are better then others, but i think all are good in their own way.
