OK, I have a mod that is very easy to install. I can follow all the directions but one. how can I up load to the forum root? where is the forum root? can I crash my site by uploading stuff to the forum root?

I believe your talking about the "footer" template

as long as you don't mess with the vbulletin copyright, you should be okay..

If, you are talking about the ftp root, then that is the public_html/ folder and yes, you can mess things up pretty fast in there.
