Why not Register and remove some of the ads from vBulletin Setup

file lost

My files are gone, I wish them back. OS XP, filesys NTFS. The tool to use should be really relaible and powerful, as the files are extremely important.

I suppose that doesn't mean OS is gone. If some files, you can use something like Active@ Undelete, that can help even if OS is corrupted, as it can boot itself from its disk

if you didn't managed to recover files by now you can try using ARAX Disk Doctor instead

well, it is true, I lost not OS but some work files. I tried active undelete and that really worked, thank you for advices!
