Whats this command mean ?

I'm trying to play around with the facebook apps, and this is the first step.

Quote:
Step 1: Download Facebook's PHP Library

Extract this archive into a directory on your hosting server where you can host and run PHP code (let's call this directory MY_DIR):

$ wget 'http://developers.facebook.com/clientlibs/facebook-platform.tar.gz'
$ tar xvf facebook-platform.tar.gz
$ cp facebook-platform/client/facebook*.php MY_DIR
This is what I think the commands mean
get facebook-platforum.tar.gz
unzip
to here

This is the folder that I'm playing in.
http://forum.vbulletinsetup.com/facebook/

and right now I have the client folder inside like facebook/client but something isn't correct.

thanks

Re: Whats this command mean ?

You're right about the first two, download and unzip.

Inside the file you downloaded there is some README stuff, a sample app etc. The actual API class (facebook_desktop.php, facebook.php, facebookapi_php5_restlib.php) is in the client/ folder - so the third command copies the appropriate files to the directory you want them in (i.e an includes/ directory)

If you're not comfortable with the command line you can always get the same result with your FTP client.

1)$ wget 'http://developers.facebook.com/clientlibs/facebook-platform.tar.gz'
2)$ tar xvf facebook-platform.tar.gz
3)$ cp facebook-platform/client/facebook*.php MY_DIR

1) Fetch the file to where you are in the file system.
2) unzip the file where you are in the file system.
3) copy all the necessary php files to a public folder on the web.
