vBulletinSetup hit 100,000 Back Links

For the longest time, VBS was stuck right around 87,000 links.. I then picked up a few links and released the 2 styles and now it seems we are picking up 2-500 back links a day

Our google links were 1500 but now it shows under 1,000

I'm going to be releasing at least 3 more styles when they get down ( total of 5 ) and if we can afford it, we'll start releasing a few WordPress and phpLD styles for the other 2 main parts of the vBulletinSetup.com URL.

We've picked up most our url's in the past from quality content and being re-posted.. I'd still like to keep this up, as it's a key part in Ranking.

That is a lot of backlinks. I used a site called Domain-Pop to check my backlinks.

Actually, I have thought about it.. The thing is, I don't really like searching for back links :p

How do I go about doing back links?
I ran my site it says I only have 116.
What exactly do back links do?
Also checked with a competitor of mine, with over 10k members, his only has a total of 7.
And my site has less than 300 members...

idk, it just depends on your site.. Like if your site is about video games,and you can put out some reviews of new games that aren't out yet, I'd say that would be good info.

Somehow I dropped to 102.
Don't know how that happened... I guess my site got crappier? lol
Nothing was taken off or moved or anything. Just a few new threads

Just realized it was after I added this code

rewriteRule ^(.*) http://www.bleepd.com/$1 [R=301,L]

I also did a google search of my site, and when I look it up, my main page isn't as #1 anymore, or even on there for that matter.

I took off the code, and I will see what happens once it all updates and repost.

whatever you do, you need to stay consistent. I changed my title tag and was dropped off the front page for several keywords in a matter of hours

I've since changed them back and have been working ever since to get in the top position.

Well I am back up to 110. I am not sure what is up with that. I guess I will have to do some more experiments... Also anyone know of a good keyword search? I use Keywords Enhancer to do most of my stuff. But I am running out of ideas for Meta tags...

That was a pretty nice thing there. I added about 50 new keywords yesterday, now up to 120. And I saw one of the keywords I put in get about 5 guests to view that page within the hour.

I've started working to get more backlinks to the main page, where our portal is now.
Right now I have 11,000 links to the root.. It's going to take some work do multiply that by 10 :O

I put in some work this weekend but have a loooooong way to go.

How much do you think you invested in just link building to get there (paid links, paid article submissions, etc)?

And which is the best link checker to monitor my progress?

Not real sure but I'd say high XXX for the vBulletinSetup.com url, and subdomains.
