Walt Disney Boards

Brandon said to submit my site for some pointers....so, here it is!

I'd definitely need some help and tips on how to make my site a lot better. The site isn't officially launched until next month, so I could use all of the help that I can get.

I'm going to be adding content and more content in the next two weeks. For now, I'm just getting a feel for how the site can and should run. I added a new skin for shits and giggles today, but I need some direction from the pros out there.

Help me guys and gals!

The new skin looks a bit better, but too "pastel" colored for a vibrant and exciting forum for all things Disney.

I'd personally condense your forums into about half of what you have now just so it looks like the activity is higher, and people don't see a bunch of forums with almost no posts. Give the allusion that the site is active even when there isn't much going on yet.

I agree with the condensing of forums and I've already started doing that. As a matter of fact, the "Disney Parks" forums will go through more of a consolidation effort. I added the "sub forums" hack and eliminated the 'extra' forums.

I won't have the site 'open' until next month. So, I've got plenty of time to make adjustments. Keep the comments coming! :aHi5:

I would deffiantly work on adding some articles in each and every forum as well as working on the forum descrptions.. They are a great place to add some keyword phrases for that piticular category.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm actually going to have informative 'sticky' threads with some of the basic info within the parks and resorts sections. For the 'career accomplishments' forum, I'm going to list the Academy Awards and Grammys, etc....that Walt Disney has won. Then, we can start topics on him and his life.

There are A LOT of articles that I plan to put out there. I won't have most of them finished by the official 'opening', but I'm planning to have a few per forum to get things going.

Thanks for the suggestion....I'm glad that I had already planned on getting a couple of these improvements done. It shows that I'm thinking along the right lines, I guess.

More suggestions....please!

a custom skin would really help. there are plenty of free templates to choose from and they are pretty easy to install.

Good call.

I actually added a different skin about a week or two ago and am actively looking for at least one more. I'd like to find one for each of the Disney parks or at least different 'themes' based on the 'lands' at the Magic Kingdom/Disneyland.

I'd like one with a "Western" feel for Frontierland (closest one that I've found is the one that I added before) and another with a 'futuristic' look of Tomorrowland, etc.

I'm still searching.

After a redesign about a month or so ago I've added quite a few features to the site (and MUCH more to come!).

Any other tips/hints that you think might benefit how the site looks or assist our members?

And, by the way, how do I get my thumbnail to show like the rest of the folks in the Link Directory?
