| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum This is really neat! A little expensive, but I just tried it out and it's very nicely done.
Now if only this was built in to vB out-of-the-box... |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum I'm afraid that I can't say that I like it. To me a "chat" or chatroom, means that you should be able to chat with more than one person at a time. This seems like really nothing more than an enhanced private message system.
A full chatroom, where more than a couple of people can gather to chat, costs only $5. And this is $50?
Ugh |

Ugh | Peggy, a lot of people really wanted the one-on-one Instant Messaging system. How many times have you PMed or VMed one of your "buddies" while you were both on the forum and said, "Hey get on MSN" ?
I know I do it all the time... but now there's no need to do that.
This offers a way for members to connect and interact instantly without the need to use a third-party instant messaging program like AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc.
A lot of people really wanted this. See this thread on the vB.com suggestion forum: Facebook-style IM/chat - vBulletin Community Forum |

I do feel that it is way overpriced, regardless. |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum 80$ is a bit much for a brandfree chat for me, but this does look pretty slick.
I signed into adminaddicit to test but no one was in chat
It would be great if it could be displayed on a blog as well, like on Nicks site, it would be cool if the chat worked on the blog pages too if you are a member and signed in with cookies. |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum As of now, it doesn't have any options. Not even usergroup permissions. LOL
But the creator is going to be adding a lot to it in the coming weeks, and there is supposed to be a new version next week at the latest.
Also, I don't know if it's over yet, but if you purchase it early, you get free support and free upgrades for life. I'm not sure if that special ended yet or not though. |

Thank you for your interest. We have made it a point to make the branding as small as possible. We have a tiny link when you click on the options.
We will soon be offering standalone version of CometChat (within a couple of days) as well as a WordPress CometChat plugin (1-2 weeks).
Warm Regards,
Anant Garg |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum Hello,
No you don't need to register for the demo. Go to the following url: Comet Chat Forum - Powered by vBulletin
At the bottom of the page you will see a grey chat bar.
Open two browsers of your choice and login with the following username/password combination:
demo1/user1
demo2/user2
demo3/user3
demo4/user4
Happy chatting
Regards,
Anant |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum Just visited your site and chat with you. Sure is a nice feature. But it is a price that is pretty high imho. The chatbar is on the bottom, is it also possible to place under the navbar?
Also, it would be handy if you would make the rest of the grey bar editable for text. So we could add text. Now it is empty for 2/3 which is a waste of space.
And the chatarea, can it be a little bigger?
But overall a nice thing, that is for sure.

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum Love the look of this. I've been looking for a private chat. I also want a chat room that a group of people can go into for group discussions. Is it ok to have both types of chat rooms on your site. Can it cause conflicts? |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum Anant,
I know this is a new launch. Is there anything that can cause vB 3.8.2 to become unstable after the install. Have you had any problems that I should be aware of? I'm just trying to make sure everything is safe. I'm not that familiar with hacks. Thanks for bearing with my questions |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum Hello,
CometChat works almost independently of vBulletin. It will not cause vB to become unstable in anyway. We have not encountered any problems with the script so far. Rest assured, it will work out-of-the-box on your site.
You may safely go ahead and purchase the script Also, the last few days are left to avail free lifetime updates.
Feel free to email us at support@inscripts.com

Anant |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum Anantgarg, thank you for this modification. I've had it installed for a few days and things are overall positive. A few bugs (a couple that you've already addressed at your site), but overall very well done |

| Re: CometChat - Add Facebook style chat bar to your forum Hey there,
Sorry to rain on your parade but I have heard many many things going wrong and errors from friends who have tried your product.
It has been said that it is very server intensive.
It is not Standards compliant.
It is not cross browser compliant, it breaks pages in opera and make spages shake in internet explorer 8.
Friends list doesn't show up, and/or people don't show up as "Online"..
The product itself is hard to get working and has a distinct lack of features.
The price is very steep.
It isn't easily editable, and the install process has nothing to do with vBulletin whatsoever. It would be more practical if you released this as a product or plugin file for vBulletin, rather than a script, that with some tampering, would work on an ordinary HTML document.
Just my 2 cents
Regards. |
