Hello from (cold) Ohio

I'm researching on whether I can handle starting a vBulletin forum. I have no programming experience so my first question is, how hard is php to learn?

I had no experience either, I must tell you its quite easy once you get the hang of it. Coding is not really required since most of the time when you edit files for adding extras they come with step by step instructions. Vbulletin is very user friendly Id say go for it.

Hello il-logical,
Welcome to vBulletinSetup

vBulletin isn't to hard to get the hang of. Have you used any other forum software like phpbb2 smf or any of the other bulletin board script ?

Thanks Greek76!

Brandon,

I have not used any other forum software. This is my initial search on which software to use and vBulletin has won to this point.

I do have one question. How did you get the combination of a blog and forum? I have been researching this on other vBulletin sites and it seems no one has nailed it down yet, but your is exactly what I am looking for....well done.

Well basically, I just installed the blog ( wordpress ) on the root URL, and then installed the forum on a subdomain and put a link on the blog that points to the forum.
Unforuntly, the blog and forum database aren't integrated
There is a wordpress, vBulletin integration mod being talked about, but they have been talking about it for a few months..

If you want some help setting your blog and forum up, just let me know or ask a few questions here.

Re: Hello from (cold) Ohio

You don't really need to know PHP to run a vBulletin forum. Most of todays modifications are products that you simply import using the product manager in your admincp.
